To Live is Christ

For Me to Live is Christ

I’ve noticed so many people freely judging and criticizing others based on their own prejudices, all in the name of ‘Christianity’.  We are to stand apart in this world, be the salt and the light.  This doesn’t mean we ignore sin, but how we call out the sin should resemble the way Jesus did: abortion and homosexuality are sins, but so is premarital sex, love of money, gossiping, and lying.  ALL of these sins Jesus died to set us free from, so we can stand for what is right, without judging and without criticizing the character of the person.  When a believer demoralizes the person in the name of Christ, their hypocrisy taints the name of Jesus!!!  These false disciples are what I believe it means to take the Lord’s name in vain.

So I thought I would simply share some verses that expand on this.

In Jesus’ own words:

“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.””

John 13:34-35 NLT

““Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.

But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.””

Matthew 7:21-27 NLT

““Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.”

John 15:5-8 NLT

““And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.”

Matthew 7:3-5 NLT

Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.””

John 14:21 NLT

“Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them. Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me. And remember, my words are not my own. What I am telling you is from the Father who sent me.”

John 14:23-24 NLT
